ISO/TC 154 resolves to approve a Technical Report (TR) project titled "Application of data exchange for commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components", with the appointment of Mr. Liang Ao and Ms. Xiaodan Tang from SAC as the co-project leaders. The target date for CD ballot: 2026-12-31; target date for DTR ballot: 2027-12-31; target date for publication: 2028-11-30. This TR project is assigned to ISO/TC 154/WG 7.
Considerations
This proposal presentation has been discussed at the WG 7 meetings of last year; WG 7 meetings of 23 Sep 2025 and 5 Feb 2026 had agreed to initiate a CIB ballot for this project. There is an understanding gap for the CIB on PWI registration on PWI stage or AWI stage.
An updated draft and Form 4 (not required, but useful for explaining justification and purpose) had been circulated to WG 7. The draft was also circulated as TC 154 document N 1664.
WG 7 meeting minutes of 5 March 2026 (WG 7 document N 180) agreed to launch this CIB to initiate the development of this TR project. If the ballot is approved, then the project will be registered and the draft will be uploaded and developed in OSD.
This document (N 1669) is the result of voting on the Draft Resolution V-2026-02: 6 P-members approve, 1 P-member disapproves with comment, 11 P-members abstain. The Draft Resolution V-2026-02 is approved by the simple majority decision of the P-members as per Clause 3.3.2 of the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 1. The ballot ran from 2026-03-26 to 2026-04-26.
